C-Orthodontic
Microimplant for Distalization of Mandibular
Dentition in Class III Correction
Dentition in Class III Correction
In this article, 2005, published in the Angle Orthodontics, the authors Kyurhim Chung, Seong-Hun Kim; Yoonah Kooka, Department of Orthodontics of the Catholic University of Korea, Uijongbu, South Korea. Show a new type of mini-implant with "head" and applied in a reduced state of correction of Class III associated with inter-maxillary elastics.
A patient 16 years of age, males with a Class III malocclusion and the absence of lower central incisors were submitted to treatment. The treatment plan consisted of a through distalização asymmetrically below the teeth and regain space for lower anterior prosthetic work. Mini implants were used as anchorage for the elastic intermaxillary Class III s, and two microimplants (C-implants) were placed in the interdental space between the second premolars and first molars.
The special design of the C-implant minimizes the gum irritation during orthodontic treatment. Sliding Jig were applied in the vestibular region of lower posterior teeth to distalização. The correct overbite and overjet were obtained by distalizição arc across the lower C-implant anchorage, which contributed to an improvement and facial balance.
It took 15 months to handle the case. The application of this new type of microimplante, considerations on the case, and the sequence of treatment are presented in this article
